Learn how to format ticker symbols for US stocks, crypto, and international markets.
What is a Ticker Symbol?
A ticker symbol is a unique series of letters assigned to a publicly traded company. It’s used to identify the company on stock exchanges and in trading systems. In Tickerdata, ticker format varies by asset class.
Asset Class Formatting
US Stocks
Use the standard ticker symbol without any suffix. Tickerdata automatically routes to the correct exchange.

Combine the coin symbol with the fiat currency code (no hyphen or dash).

Use exchange suffixes similar to Yahoo Finance format. The suffix indicates which exchange the stock trades on.
